Debbie Milne Exhibition of Fused Glass
On December 13th, In2Art located at the Aldegonda Park, 7 St. Ann's Road, St. Ann's, will present an Exhibition of fused and slumped glass works by Debbie Milne.
Debbie has been working in glass for the last ten years, originally starting with stained glass then mosaic , this new work is an accumulation of the past twelve months , after a series of workshops in glass fusing.
The process involves cutting pieces of glass of different colours, stacking or layering them into various shapes and sizes, then placing them into a kiln and heating till they become molten and fuse together, forming a piece which is then placed into a mould that could be the shape of a plate or bowl, vase or large platter and then fired again so it takes the shape of the mould used.
The transparency and translucence of glass particularly when the light reflects off it can be quite beautiful. The iridescent glass used shimmers and the copper inclusions in ordinary plate glass are a simple yet effective way to transform an ordinary piece of glass into glass art.
