Are your investments protected?
Specifically, are your fine art investments protected? Many will respond by confirming that their art is insured, which is not the only means of protection if you wish to maintain its investment and/or sentimental value for several generations to come.
To a layman’s eye, the workmanship of your valuable artwork looks great – the corner joints are tight, the mats don’t show much in the way of overcuts and the glazing is not chipped or scratched. What you don’t see is the hot glue, masking tape or scotch tape that was used to keep the work stable, which ultimately will aid in the deterioration of your artwork because of its acidity. As well, the continued use of lower grade (plastic, compressed paper or fiberglass) mouldings, mats that are not protected by glazing (despite the practice of lamination) and materials that are not preservation quality and glazing that has no UV protection whatsoever must be of some concern.
In2Art is pleased to be your CUSTOM PRESERVATION FRAMER. A key component of professional picture framing is the ability to preserve the original condition of the work, both at the time it is being framed and in the event that the framing, mounting and matting is removed at a later date. Preservation picture framing, also known as conservation picture framing and museum quality framing, uses materials and techniques that help protect against the effects of sunlight and pollutants that yellow, fade and damage the art. Archival matting, hinging and UV protective glazing (glass or acrylic) and frame lining are most commonly used to increase the longevity of framed items.
In2Art has partnered with two of the world leaders is custom framing – ROMA Moulding, for which In2Art is the sole distributor in Trinidad and Tobago, and Tru Vue Glass. ROMA Moulding’s extensive collection of mouldings are internationally renowned for their innovative designs, superior craftsmanship, exquisite style, eco-friendly composition and socially conscious business model, while proudly manufacturing all their mouldings in Italy.
