This painting is a unique example of Cazabon's work while he was in France, demonstrating his association with the French Landscape Movement and Barbizon School. There are no other known examples of landscapes from this period.

This painting is probably one of the most important works of art from 20th Century Trinidad and Tobago. It is the first and only piece from the Caribbean to be accepted into London's Royal Academy and receive international acclaim.
The image was reproduced on one of five postage stamps celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the Chinese in Trinidad issued in November 2006.
