1.Shannon Jacob-Gomes
At Carnival

This picture represents a man at Carnival time 2008

2. Paul Dookwah
Traditional Mas

What else is there to say about this picture? The mas we know today came from the mas that was new 30 years ago.
Even today we still see the display of traditional mas.  Just goes to show how Trinis never forget tradition.

3.Kareem Wharton
Green Devil

4. Jamie Thomas
Pink Valley

This is a calm place filled with pink flowers.
It shows that there is a pristine and beautiful place beyond all the negative and ugly side of the world.
This place represents love. The flowers are a big part of love and show a safe zone for everyone.

P.S. Do you think you know where this valley is?

5. Anna Samai
Two Girls

This picture shows clearly, in the subjects I love most, children, the dynamic that exists inside most people…. the show of happiness toward peers and family…but the conflict that goes on inside as well.  This picture made me realize that this was especially relevant to my life at the time…in dealing with family and the pressures of school at that time when exams were so near…and keeping a neutral face to maintain control.

6. Shenelle Harris
Pit Bull

This shot was taken in my neighbourhood and I found it to be comedic because dog is supposed to be man’s best friend and protector but the dog looks like he wants to have his master for lunch.

7. Anealakeigh Neils
Lonely Puppy

This image represents faith and hope in the form of a stray dog.  In the picture, the dog is looking off into the distance, which can be seen as him being hopeful that he will be able to acquire his next meal.  This animal is faithful to his creator, our Father, that God would provide the dog with his next meal though he does not have that support from a family to do that for him.

8. Shannon Jacob-Gomes
View from Gonzales

This photograph represents the view of Port-of-Spain taken from the St. Martin de Pores’ church hill.  From this view, many building sin the Port-of-Spain area can be seen as well as the mountains and sea.

9. Lifa Morean
Upside Down

Sometimes life may seem like choppy waters and at other times smooth sailing.  It’s up to you to face those challenges and trials and turn them into your triumphs.  Everywhere I go, I see the line, “The will of God will never take you where the spirit and grace of God won’t guide and protect you.”  So go on!!  The future may not look bright, but there is always a lantern of light to guide you along your path.

10. Shannon Jacob-Gomes
At the Edge

11. Nekeshia Quamina
Golden Light

A paradox of life is that love hurts, but there is no more explicit image of God’s love for mankind than Jesus on the Cross.  From Him emanates a light that can penetrate any darkness.  This light is meant to be passed on to the candle of our hearts so it may be ever burning.

12. Brandon Philbert
Harris Promenade

This picture represents that God will be present with us at every step we make in life.  His Cross symbolizes that however long our lives are, or no matter how uncertain our path, he’ll always remain at our side.  He’ll never leave us or forsake us.

13.  Shenelle Harris
Graffiti

This shot was graffiti on the wall of Holy Rosary Church at the corner of Park and Henry Street.  It was drawn by a city dweller and to me it seemed like he was trying to send a message that even though we may attend church we do not really have God in our lives.

14. Jamie Thomas
Abstract Reflections

This picture is a world of its own.  The different colours, images and the tone of the picture makes it a picture to be looked at for a long while, just to find out where this reflection came from and what it is reflecting on.

15. Shenelle Harris
Man with a Dollar

This picture has a strong tone.  It shows a man at work, not a beggar.  This picture has good composition and lots of emotion because it only shows the back of the person.

16. Shenelle Harris
Two Chairs

17. John Luke Alegnon
Wired Hearts

This picture represents love, faith and hope.  It shows life is like a wire fence.  Life is a constant struggle of keeping people out, but no matter what happens people start to grow on you like a vine you learn to love and have faith in.  Even though there is a lot of struggle and misguided actions, we still have hope to go through life.

18. Anika de Freitas
Blue Devil

The look of courage and joy raced through this blue devil’s eyes.  All the paint covers his body and shows the true flavour of Carnival, from this one pose, one shot and one time that happens only once a year.

19. Paul Dookwah
Trapped

At high times of our lives we’re carefree and wild and for every high time we have there are always low times that follow which make us feel trapped and scared.  Just like the small fishes in the ocean, at high tide they’re carefree and wild.  Only when low tides arrive do they find themselves in a situation that they can’t get out of.

20. Shannon Jacob-Gomes
Man and his Dog

This photograph represents man and his best friend, his dog.  It was taken on the top of a hill in Gonzales, Belmont, Port of Spain

21. Shannon Jacob-Gomes
A tree and a Tower

This signifies man versus nature.  In today’s society the work of man competes with nature, sometimes at the cost of nature.  The question is, which has more value today….the work of man or nature?  This photograph was taken at Independence Square, Port of Spain.

22. Jerrimiah Brown
A Family for Me

The image of the picture came to me, when I was in San Fernando by the beach.  I looked and looked to find a perfect picture, which would explain clearly who I am.  While looking, I managed to stumble upon a boat with birds, which I noticed had two different types of birds in it.  Then it hit me, why don’t I take a picture of the birds and say, “I took this picture to best describe myself.”   So, I took this picture of birds because it best represents a family of love, hope, and faith, a family who loves to enjoy themselves with no worries on their hands, or wings, and who loves to take a bite of our delicious Trinidadian fish.

23. Jamie Thomas
Steelpan

24. Jamie Thomas
Friends

The beauty of friendship caught in a single shot.  The smiles of the girls brings out all the emotion and cheer with the addition of the golden light.

25. Jamie Thomas
Sunset I

This picture is a paradise shot.  It brings television to life.  This shows the beauty of the sky and all that Trinidad has to give.

26. Jamie Thomas
Sunset II

You may think this is on a hidden island somewhere, but this is the beauty that Gonzales has.  The colours of the sky relax the mind when looked at.  True beauty!

27. Jamie Thomas
Sunset III

The colours are everything!  The colours contrast, shadows all come together to make a wonderful picture.

28. Paul Dookwah
Immortal

I love this photo because of the scenic beauty that can only be found on the island of Tobago.  This picture was one of the first I ever took.  It will always live on in my memory.

29. Shannon Jacob-Gomes
Man from Gonzales

30. Paul Dookwah
Juxtaposed

To me, this picture represents my relationship with God.  In the dead centre of the photograph you see a communications satellite tower, with the red in the section of the tower highlighting the cross.  Also, the telephone wires running above the church represent that I can call on God anytime, all the time, and that he’s always with me, in my time of need.  HA!!!

31. Anika de Freitas
This Old House

My photo is on hope, love and faith.  This old house shows hope in my community, for Trinidadians to live in better conditions.  The cross shows love that God is with us through everything, think and thin.  The house represents generations that have lived in this community, those who have past on and those who live now, life and death, which shows faith that generations will come together to create a better life.

32. Agustine Griffith
Two Pillars

On Monday 11th May, 2009, my home got burnt up.  My books, my TV, my bed, and my pants got burnt up.  I am happy I got a new home, but I will remember about my home when I walk by.  I walked by and at my old house I saw the wall standing.  The wall represents God who keeps standing, and that is my love, faith, and hope.

33. Cerdeen de Couteau
Lost and Found

This picture represents who I am and my outlook on life.  I am searching for my way in life and the bird is me in the water, which is me trying to find my way to a place where I can belong.  The light in the picture is the coming together of both light and dark, which reflects how my life has both good and bad.

34. Paul Dookwah
Where the Two Meet

In this beautiful tranquil scene you see a small stream find its way to the open expanses of the ocean.   It always reminds me that no matter how small we are or how many bad turns we make, trust in God and you’ll find your way to the boundless expanses of his kingdom.

35. Paul Dookwah
From a Distance
(Parlatuvier, Tobago)

This beautiful picture always reminds me of human nature.  Sometime we get caught up with the hustle and bustle of life and we rarely ever look at the picture from a distance. Only when we do, we realize the beauty of life.

36. Paul Dookwah
In the Hustle

“I is a killer”.  That’s what he said when he saw me with the camera in my hand.  Though my first impulse was to get as far away from this psycho as possible, on further introspection of this photo “very far away from this particular location” was the hidden craft skill concealed in the background.  It occurred to me that even though a rough exterior may have tainted my first impression of him, this fellow was just looking for a meal at the end of the day.  It was very sobering because in the end we all are.
